welcome to MOSSlab!

MOSSlab functions within the framework of the CITY/STATE UNIT @ bezalel academy of art and design and the urban planning unit @ hebrew university of jerusalem. MOSSlab examines the planning of metropolitan open spaces. research will look to the current planning context in israel, and international precedents, to assert original strategy relevant to NOP 35 and DOP 3/21.

dividing area61: piece of cake

*** WORK IN PROGRESS ***
rules and regulations. it starts here. through them we can interpret intention, determine our actions, and predict future results. they are a basic building block of the abstract framework of society. here we examine the NOP and DP3/21 as they meet around area61. the result is multiple layers of restrictions and instructions, sometimes congruent, sometimes incoherent.

this exercise will continue by attempting to 'follow the rules' to their resulting scenarios and explore both the possible results, and the possible conflicts along the way... as we all know [and love], rules are meant to be broken.

TLV61

to understand just how big area61 really is, a map of tel aviv is superimposed. north to south we can see the yarkon to the dolphinarium. east to west we have the beach to past the ayalon. it's pretty big. more importantly, we strengthen the horses head metaphor by adding an eye and a bridle.

open space?

the upcoming view from netanya. good? bad? irrelevant... cause here it comes. so what will be the dialogue between the ever growing city and the now "protected" open spaces?

say yes...

is there room for added value thinking at the national scale of planning? when the gap between a concrete floor detail and reality is about 5cm, can meaningful value be rendered in the distance between the textures on a NOP and the reality 20 years down the line? can you say ¥€$?

about deadlines @ the lab

"i love deadlines. i like the whooshing sound they make as
they fly by."
